Chenzhou Update

I am just heartsick.

Chenzhou, Hunan – still facing the most difficulties of the
orphanages
we’ve reached.  They’ve had no electricity or running water for 8
days and
there is almost no possibility that power will be restored before New
Year’s Eve (the 6th of February.)  Because of the blackout, the
hospital
is closed.  20 children are ill and being cared for by institution
staff
as well as they can.  The banks are closed so staff is contributing
personal funds to buy food, coal and diapers.  Prices are skyrocketing
as
all roads to Chenzhou remain impassable.

  1. It’s horrible. The weather situation in North China is of gigantic proportions, similar to the devastation we saw with Hurricane Katrina–more than anyone will see on the news here. I’m so sad about your orphanage and I am praying for the nannies and the babies and kids there.

  2. So I am guessing that your sweet girl is from Chenzhou SWI? I met my daughter tan years ago last DEc. and we returned for a visit this past Sept.
I have written a “request” with inf. I have gathered and information from Half the Sky. I have emailed this information to churches in our town.

  3. Sherry- yes, my daughter is from Chenzhou. I too forwarded the info onto our prayer chain. 10 years! How was your return visit? We have kept in contact with Director Shi and the nannies. We cannot wait till Katie Mei is old enough to go back. Thanks for visiting- and I will keep praying!
