Update

Sammy is doing great.  I kept him home today, but he could have gone to school.  Jack and Katie are off at school today.  I am really tired but fine.  Hope you have a great day.  The first layer of paint is up! It looks darker then I expected, but I love it.  Can’t wait to get the room all put together.  I will then post some photos.

XOXO

Applesauce Cake

It all started with an episode of Max & Ruby.  Ruby and her friend Louise were doing this little sing-song game that goes like this:

Brown sugar, applesauce, spices, flour- put them in the oven for half an hour.

Bake, bubble, bubble bake, apple pie is fun to make….APPLE.

So I think, hmmm…wonder if you can make something just with those ingredients.  SO I go to my trusty friend Google.  And I find a recipe.  It has oil too, but all the ingredients.  So I made it.  YUM!! So yesterday, I remember that I could use a can of Diet Coke instead of the oil.  Thank you Weight Watchers.  So here are some photos of my Applesauce Cake with Diet Coke.

WRONG.  Ok, so, use the oil people. USE THE OIL.
here is the real recipe.  Truly when made like this, YUMMY!!!

Applesauce Cake

Preheat oven to 350

Mix:

2 cups applesauce
1 3/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup oil

Sift:
3 1/2 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp cinnamon

Add the applesauce mixture to the sifted mix.

Stir in:
1 cup nuts (I use walnuts)
1 cup raisins

Pour the batter into the cake pans.
Bake 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
While it is baking, lick the spoons and give your husband the bowl. Mmmm.
After the cakes are cool enough to remove, cool them on cooling racks, otherwise they’ll get soggy, which is gross.

Painting

Hello friends,

I am surprising Michael by painting and kinda (really cheaply) redecorating our family room.  Here are the "before" and swatch photos.  With the agreement of the kids, we chose the top left color called Cardboard for the walls.  Our friend Mr. Craig is painting today!!  I will post after photos when finished.

Img_4818 it is messy and yellow right now.  The blinds are broken and the junk will be gone…lol.
