Trivial Favorites

As I was cleaning the toilet I had a thought,(actually, my first thought was "if you sprinkle when you tinkle, be a sweetie and wipe the seatie") is everyone as crazed about cleaning products as I am?  I am a total cleaning product whore.  I love them.  When I find one I like I am super loyal and if I stray and try a new one, I always chastise myself.  They NEVER clean as well for me, lol.  I have a huge prerequisite though, it has to smell clean and yummy.  For whatever reason, I have a big smell thing.  Ok, so here goes- and PLEASE share yours too!!

Cleananddust_2

This is my dusting/cleaning wood on a regular basis spray.  I love it.  It does a fabulous job and smells clean to me.

Pine_sol

Pine-Sol.  For kitchen floor, for bathroom floor and the aforementioned toilet seat cleaner. (2 boys)

Orange_oil_2

Every other week or so, I use Orange Oil to protect all the wood furniture in my house.

Softscrub_2

Bathroom, tubs, showers, etc.

mirrors and glass

My sinks.  I clean them often, sometimes ( I know, hello OCD) a couple of times a day.

Bleach

Cleaning toilet bowls and other white objects.  I "soak my sink"  ala fly lady with it once a week.

and lastly:

Shore

see those little bead things in there?  They are vacuum beads, you throw some in your vacuum and they add just a touch of scent as you clean.  This one is from Restoration Hardware and the scent is Shore.  I think it smells like being at the beach.

And, also, I really really enjoy lighting candles every night.  I like homey smelling ones from this place.

  1. You are so funny, Jenny! đŸ™‚
I use a lot of those products, too. And, the ones from Restoration Hardware are made by a company that is owned by the parents of one of my students. How about that? I was given a bunch of samples in a variety of fragrances on Valentine’s Day from them. They are so nice!

  2. oh, i love this post!:) do you ever use the lemon scent soft scrub? its nice. i can’t remember if i told u about the method room scents. you know i am not a heavy scent person, but these are those plug in kind (i know a little old ladyish) but, they are light and great! i love the mint and euclalyptus, it smells like a spa!

  3. omg i LOVE this post. I’m just a cleaning product whore too. Our cupboard under the sink is full to the rafters and products are stacked up in the garage. I use two bottles of Febreeze at once and mosey around the house with them in my hands shooting them off BAM! BAM! like i’m Annie Freaking Oakley.
WHERE WHERE do I throw the beads into the vaccuum?
And thank you for reminding me that I need new stinky candles for my office.

  4. First off, thank you for reminding people like me I’m a total slob and need to clean. Secondly, should you choose to bring your obsession into our great state, you’re more than welcome to shack up with us. I’m impressed with those of you who use their OCDness for the greater good.
Thirdly, I’m a fly lady drop out. I never made it past making sure my kitchen sink was shining every night before I went to bed.
You are such an inspiration to me….

  5. Dr.M- you put them directly in the bag if you are changing the bag- or, you can vaccum them up off the floor and then they stay in the bag. They smell yummy!!

  6. After reading this, I really have to clean my house! I like the Clorox w/Teflon spray for bathtubs, but I can hardly find it anymore. I like how it keeps soap scum from sticking longer. Also like those swiffer duster things for quick dusting – but I use the same kind of pledge for the real dusting. If only I could keep the piles of sand from falling off my boys all over the house. I even make them dump their shoes and check their pockets before they can pass through the door. Where does it come from – their ears? It’s a mystery.

  8. oooh, Janelle, total big pet peeve of mine- the sand and the wood chips. I was thinking of actually makin the boys strip down before they came in…lol, but I still bet there would be sand and wood chips from somewhere. I think they hide it on purpose. ; )

  9. I wish I could smell your home! It sounds very clean and cozy! I can’t wait to buy American products again someday!
