Womenfriends

I am blessed with amazing friends.  I truly truly am.  When one of my friends has been hurt or insulted, it KILLS me.  Tell me….as a woman would you EVER ask another woman if she was pregnant?  Ok, maybe if she is doing the waddle, holding her sweet pregnant belly and you KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is going to give birth any day….but other than that?  NO.  I can hear you all saying no way!  But I have come to the conclusion that some people just have no idea how to just keep their thoughts like that to themselves.  My sweet sister from another mister, who is TINY, at her amazing goal weight and looking quite sassy I might add, was asked that yesterday AT CHURCH.  Now, Courtney, she is sweet but also honest and able to think on her feet and said honestly to that person no and stayed kind the whole time.  I on the other hand wanted to go an pummel the person (another WOMAN) who said it.

I just am not sure why people say things like that.  While Courtney took it well, I would have been a puddle on the floor at home crying.  I just don’t get it.  I got those kinds of comments all the time when I was pregnant- not the Are you pregnant comments, but comments like, "Are you sure you are not having twins?"  "You must be having a girl because you are carrying so much weight everywhere" (nope, 2 boys, thank you very much) and my all time favorite "Wow, you are only 5 months along, you are HUGE".  Yes, people said that.  HUH?  WHY?  Did your mom never tell you that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all?  Sheesh.

Well, Courtney, you my dear look FABULOUS.  Not the least bit pregnant.  And I will defend you all the way.  I still will beat her up if ya want. ; )

  1. Yes, that happened to me too. The worst part was that we were trying to conceive. Of course, when we said that we weren’t pregnant, the next question was, “Are you planning children?” At that point, I needed to excuse myself so I could retreat to the bathroom and cry….

  2. Oh ugh. Sheesh. I am so sorry that people are that um, ignorant. Oh, I totally forgot to email we can’t make it to the picnic- we will be in San Diego watching my nephew in Scrooge! I hope you all have fun!!

  3. That happened to me once! It was my slimy gardener who asked the question. Can you say “inappropriate and unprofesssional” Mr. Gardener? I didn’t think so! Anyway, he was a terrible gardener, so I fired him.
You are a wonderful friend. I love your sense of loyalty because I’m like that, too. Sadly, most “friends” are not.

  4. Courtney, beautiful, weight watchers queen… you look fabulous and marvelous and oh what a gracious woman you are to be patient and kind when others do not think before they speak.
